BLACK DUST – is a solo exhibition featuring a dynamic body of work created by Artist Howard Searchfield.
Howards artistic practice is to ‘create’ in response to personal experience and in this exhibition Howard shows works he has created over the course of the previous year of his life working primarily with the medium of charcoal on paper.
These figurative works explore light, form, symbolism and the complexities of the human figure, subjects in art that have always fascinated him.
While the image is not literal, it is always an emotional response to an event that is the catalyst for his art; Emotion always directs the feel and subject of his next drawing or painting.
While the pieces in this show are intensely personal to him his ultimate goal is to always produce pleasing artwork for the viewer to enjoy with a hope to evoke an emotional response.
Howard has shown his work in numerous Art Shows, and Portrait Prizes throughout Queensland some of which have been Downlands Toowoomba, Thoroughbreds Hillier and Skuse, St Hildas Southport Border Art Prize, Neumann Portrait Prize and now looks forward to sharing his work at the Dust Temple.
