The Traveller’s Table
THE TRAVELLER’S TABLE
The Traveller’s Table… Dust Temple’s newest endeavour. A series of experiential dining events to take you across the globe. In a time we cannot travel overseas, The Traveller’s Table will transport you from Currumbin to the Valleys of Mexico, the streets of New York or perhaps to the coastlines of the Pacific Islands. Each Table Series celebrates food, culture and history from a specific region, brought to you by featured chefs, cooks, producers and sommeliers. Limited seats available.
Our first stop…. Mexico
The first stop on the Traveller’s Table Series is Oaxaca (pronounced Wahaka), Mexico, and our guide for the evening is Kristal Smith of Clay Cantina. Due to being currently ‘grounded’, Kristal’s menu for “One Way to Oaxaca” aims to transport us into the central mercado of Ciudad de Oaxaca (Oaxaca City) and to the family tables of the Oaxacan Valleys.
One Way to Oaxaca
SAT 13 MARCH
5PM – 9PM
The menu will journey you through the Oaxacan Market to the family table, meeting the makers and exploring the history of ingredients and processes……

The flavour journey presented in the Dust Temple Courtyard will be complemented with travel slides, historical spoken word, entertainment and live music akin to that of a rogue late night mariachi band often found in the side streets well into dawn. A rich cultural and historical experience with delicious food celebrated with loved ones.

Book a table for friends, a festive family night out or a couples getaway…..
About Kristal Smith (Clay Cantina)
To our Dust Temple regulars, perhaps Kristal needs no introduction. Kristal has been a part of the Dusty furniture since the very beginning (our furniture isn’t dusty, it’s a term of endearment). Her first public venture Pop Taco, resided just a few doors down from us here on Currumbin Creek Road, remember the vibrant blue hues and authentic flavours hidden away for those curious or in the know enough to dine at the ‘oh so Mexican’ outdoor taqueria aptly set up at the back of a carpark, circa 2103-2015.
These days Kristal offers her passion and expertise by way of Clay Cantina, a micro cooking school that operates classes twice a month in the top level here at Dust Temple. You may or may not already know Kristal, but chances are … you don’t know “Why Mexico?” For Kristal, – touching down on a flight into Mexico City holds that feeling of coming home – past-life-stuff? or maybe just overly romantic about all that colour and chaos? Over the past 13 years, Kristal has returned again and again to Mexico always armed with a wish list of new towns & regional dishes as she endeavours to eat and cook her way to the heart of Mexican culture.
