Saxophonist Dan Ford leads a quintet featuring some of Brisbane’s finest musicians on his new album, “Across the Wide Bay”. Inspired by the natural beauty of Fraser Island, the album is a collection of original compositions set to swing and modern grooves. The title track is a new vocal tune, sung by Jess Spina. Since its limited release in March 2021, “Across the Wide Bay” has been featured on ABC Jazz, community radio in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, and the CD version is even stocked with retailers in Japan! The album is available online with all streaming platforms.

Originally from Canberra, Dan Ford followed his passion for jazz and improvised music by completing an undergraduate music performance degree at the Australian National University, and later a master’s at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. He has enjoyed performances at the Queensland Music Festival, Merimbula Jazz Festival, and Canberra International Music Festival. He has performed with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and played lead alto in the Brisbane Jazz Orchestra, and the Gold Coast’s Sweet Thunder Big Band.
